The
Frederick Soddy Trust was established in 1957 under the terms set out
in the will of the chemist and Nobel Laureate, Professor Frederick Soddy FRS.
The
Trust offers support for study which includes human geography: the
social, economic and cultural life of specific regions within the
United Kingdom, Ireland or elsewhere in the world.

Applications for grants may be made for:
University Awards

Postgraduate Award through the RGS: £6,000

Special Research Projects

University Expedition Grants where it is largely
research involving current human geography normally up to £2,000
School Awards &
Competitions:

The Soddy School Fieldwork
Awards through the Geographical Association: Approximately £2,500
-
Primary School Competition, Go the Extra Mile,
£250 each for two schools for teaching geography, plus awards worth
£100 for up to four pupils. Through the Geographical Association
Expeditions and
fieldwork
Where it is largely
research involving current human geography normally up to £2,000.
Grants are NOT made to or for individuals. The
Trust cannot support research into wild life or environments.
